Apples and Honey
September 29, 2011
Blessed are you, Lord, our God, king of the universe
who creates the fruit of the tree.
May it be Your will, Lord our God and God of our ancestors
that you renew for us a good and sweet year.
- prayer spoken during Rosh Hashanah (28-30 September in 2011) when eating apples dipped in honey to symbolize the hopes of a sweet new year.
Blessing of Unsophistication
May 10, 2011
After all the wisdom,
you must throw wisdom and sophistication aside
and serve God sincerely with complete simplicity,
with no sophistication whatever.
The greatest wisdom of all is not to be wise at all.
- Rabbi Nachman of Breslov
