A Blessing for Kindness

February 23, 2011

May you be generous in prosperity, and thankful in adversity.
May you be fair in thy judgement, and guarded in thy speech.
May you be a lamp unto those who walk in darkness, and a home to the stranger.
May you be eyes to the blind, and a guiding light unto the feet of the erring.
May you be a breath of life to the body of humankind,
a dew to the soil of the human heart,
and a fruit upon the tree of humility.
– adapted from a prayer of Bahá’u’lláh, founder of the Bahá’í faith

There were a couple of lines that I particularly favored:

‘(May you be) guarded in thy speech’

‘(May you be) a dew to the soil of the human heart,
and a fruit upon the tree of humility.’

Thank you for your faithfulness in posting these.
